AM Welcomes Boost for Rural Wales
Gower Labour AM Edwina Hart has welcomed today’s announcement (Thursday 26 June) by Minister for Rural Affairs, Elin Jones AM, of a £47.8 million boost for rural communities across Wales. The Swansea Rural Development Partnership is set to benefit from an RDP contribution of £359,715.
The Rural Development Plan funding will support innovative and diversification projects designed to promote the rural economy. Projects encouraging tourism and heritage restoration have been prioritised in this round of funding.
Edwina Hart AM said:
“Five projects have been awarded funding under the Swansea Rural Development Partnership, including a rural youth project, improvements to outdoor pursuit facilities and support for local produce and arts and crafts markets.”
18 Local Partnerships in Wales submitted funding applications. The Rural Development Plan aims to support improvements to basic services in rural areas, village renewal and development and training in addition to diversification projects.
