Funding to help vulnerable older people at home
Gower Labour AM Edwina Hart is reminding Gower residents who may be eligible for assistance under the Care & Repair scheme to contact their local office.
Last week, (Friday 20 March) the Welsh Assembly Government announced a Wales wide package of over £4.5 million to provide practical help for older and disabled people to remain in their own homes. The Rapid Response Programme (RRAP), in which Care and Repair also plays a pivotal role, has been awarded £2.1m. This will be used for minor but necessary improvements that are needed to allow people to return home after being discharged from hospital.
Edwina Hart AM said:
"Care & Repair provides a valuable service that allows older and disabled people to continue living safely and independently in their own homes for as long as possible. Simple adaptations to a person’s home, such as adding grab rails or improved steps, and access to bathroom facilities can make a huge impact on the quality of life."
Care & Repair offers free home checks, financial information, practical help with form filling and provides information on reputable trades people and monitors the quality of repairs and any building work. The Swansea office can be contacted on 01792 798599 or on enquiries@swanseacareandrepair.co.uk
