Mynydd y Gwair Wind Turbine Opposition
Gower Labour AM Edwina Hart has today (Tuesday 16 Sep) written to Planning Services, Swansea to object to the Mynydd y Gwair wind turbine application.
Mrs. Hart said:
"I know from my own post bag that loss of visual amenity, disturbance to and displacement of grazing flocks/herds and damage to local flora and fauna are causes of concern for my constituents."
Mrs Hart added:
"I firmly believe that there are many areas of the Gower constituency which although not designated as part of the AONB should be protected to preserve visual amenity and wildlife. Mynydd y Gwair includes some spectacular landscapes which are cherished by local people and used by hikers and ramblers. Following the demise of much of the heavy industry which used to be typical of parts of the ancient Lordship of Gower much of the area is now completely rural in nature. If the Gower AONB were being designated today I believe it would include much more of the Lordship of Gower area.”
