550 WORKERS SIGN UP TO TRAINING SUPPORT
Workers in City and County of Swansea have taken advantage of an Assembly Government-funded training scheme during the recession, Gower AM Edwina Hart has revealed.
Latest figures show 550 workers in Swansea have taken advantage of the ProAct scheme since its inception.
The scheme offers:
* Up to £2,000 per individual towards training costs
* A wage subsidy of up to £2,000 (at a rate of £50 a day) per individual whilst this training is being undertaken (up to 12 months.)
More than 7,000 workers across Wales have benefited from the ProAct scheme since the scheme was introduced.
Edwina Hart AM said:
“ProAct is a financial support package, introduced by the Welsh Assembly Government, and designed to help viable businesses cope with the downturn and use quiet periods to up-skill staff and prepare them for when the upturn comes.”
“The Assembly Government is committed to the long-term goal of creating a full employment society in Wales, providing everyone with the opportunity to fulfil their potential through work, study and training."
