Edwina Hart AM Welcomes Welsh Assembly Government Boost to Local Economy
News that Swansea is set to share in a £350m Assembly Government investment package to boost the economy has been welcomed today by Gower Labour AM Edwina Hart.
The Welsh Assembly Government announced today that a number of projects are being taken forward under its pioneering Strategic Capital Investment Fund, which is aimed at supporting capital projects which boost regeneration, promote positive lifestyles, tackle climate change, deliver sustainable transport and improve skills.
Further details of these projects will be available soon.
Edwina Hart AM said:
“The news that projects such as £20m to double the rail track between Gowerton and Loughor are being taken forward is a real vote of confidence in our area. Swansea is also included in the positive lifestyles projects with £70m towards a major investment to enhance hospital services.
It is very good news for the local economy at a difficult period and shows again that the Welsh Assembly Government is working hard to make a real difference in areas like this. The amount of investment going in across Wales will deliver major improvements in our public services and provide job opportunities for those who will be involved in getting these projects off the ground.”
