Knelston Primary Concerns

Gower AM Edwina Hart stated that she shares the concerns of parents, teachers, governors and children following on from the publication of the City and County of Swansea’s intentions for a possible sale of land at Knelston Primary School.

Gower AM Edwina Hart said:

“I contacted the Local Education Authority recently for information on the matter and I received a copy of the seven paragraph general letter dated 29 November 2010, which was sent out to all Chairs of Governors and head teachers. I have no current information on the issue”

“The amenities at the school are much valued, including the conservation area.
I have been in touch with the school and I will be meeting with head teacher Roy Davies next week.”

Knelston Primary School conservation site contains a wildlife garden, a pond, a small woodland area, a roundhouse shelter and a perimeter path. Pupils, staff and parents all contributed to the project work.

Mrs Hart added:

“The conservation area is used to enhance the children’s understanding of nature and the environment and it would appear that the Council wishes to add another strand to those lessons.”
